No. 18 Men's Tennis Beats Arkansas, 5-2

Gainesville’s Trey Johnson beat his second ranked opponent in a week as the No. 18 Florida men’s tennis team won four singles matches to fuel its 5-2 win over No. 26 Arkansas on Thursday afternoon in Fayetteville. With the win, UF now stands at 8-1 on the year and 3-0 in SEC play, equaling its conference win total for the entire 2001 season. Arkansas falls to 7-3 overall and 0-3 in league action.
Florida opened the match by winning the doubles point for the seventh time in nine matches this year. Chris McDonald and Hamid Mirzadeh provided a 8- 6 win at No. 1 while Matt Behrmann and Troy Hahn were victorious, 8-3, at No. 3. UF defaulted the third match with Olivier Levant being bothered by injury.
UF would win at the No. 2, 4,5 and 6 singles slots to seal the win. Johnson got the better of No. 86 Tiago Azevedo at No. 6 for his 19th win of the year and third over a ranked opponent since January. Hahn and Behrmann came through for the Gators with wins at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively. Eleazar Magallan improved his dual match singles mark to 7-2 with a three-set win at No. 2. The Razorbacks captured the only matchup of ranked players as No. 32 Oggie Kolev beat No. 70 Mirzadeh at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3. Arkansas got its only other point when Levant defaulted his singles match while up 5-3 in the opening set due to injury.
Florida returns to action on Sunday when the Gators travel to face No. 21 LSU.
