Women's Golf in Fourth at SEC Championships

The University of Florida women's golf team took sole possession of fourth place Saturday after the second round of the SEC Championships, shooting a two-round 593. Auburn and South Carolina are now tied for the lead at 571 heading into the final round of the Championships.
"We have to stay on track and stay focused on our goals. The SEC is a very strong, competitive women's golf conference," said UF Head Coach Jill Briles-Hinton. "We can't worry about what anyone else is doing because we don't have control of that. What we do have control over is taking it one shot at a time, and that's what we have to do tomorrow. We're going to take it one shot at a time, give it everything we've got and see where it takes us."
Once again, freshman Whitney Code (Tampa, Fla.) led the Gators, shooting a one-over par 73 to move to a tie for sixth place for the tournament with a 143. Junior Brittany Straza (Ft. Myers, Fla.), sophomore Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla.) and freshman Andrea Vander Lende (Longwood, Fla.) each shot 74 to move to a tie for 19th place at 150 for the tournament. Junior Jeanne Cho (Boulogne, France) rounded out the scoring for Florida with a 75 to finish at 151 over the first two rounds and in a tie for 22nd place.
Friday night, three members of the women's golf team were named to the All-SEC team. Jeanne Cho and Brittany Straza were named Second Team All-SEC, while Andrea Vander Lende was named Honorable Mention.
Cho will tee off first for the Gators Sunday at 8:30 a.m. for the final round of the SEC Women's Golf Championship.
