Men's Tennis Brings Home Two Titles

The University of Florida men's tennis team brought home two titles from the 2002 Seminole Fall Classic, Saturday, at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center at Florida State.
"It's a great way to start the season," said Gator Tennis Coach Andy Jackson. "The competition is only going to get tougher from here, but it's nice experience for our guys to get at this time of the season."
Janne Homia was crowned the champion in the Singles A Draw of the Classic, as he defeated Troy State's Pablo Martinez (6-2, 7-5) in the finals. Earlier in the day, Homia defeated fellow teammate Eleazar Magallan (6-4, 6-0) in the semifinals. Martinez got to the finals by winning his match over Florida's Olivier Levant (4-6, 6-1, 7-6).
Florida was also victorious in the Doubles A Draw, as the team of Levant and Magallan defeated Gator teammates Troy Hahn and Matt Behrmann in the finals (8-3).
"The guys did a great job of competing this weekend," Jackson added. "I'm really proud of the guys and how they were able to start off the season victorious."
Florida will next be in action from Sept. 27-29, as the Gators host the Gator Invitational at Linder Stadium at the Ring Tennis Complex.
