The No. 10 University of Florida women’s golf team is in third place with a score of 295 after the first round of the Dodge ACC/SEC Challenge. Duke is in first place with a tournament-record 276 followed by Auburn (289).
Leading the way for the Lady Gators are freshman Naree Song (Bradenton, Fla.) and Tarah McNaughton (Bradenton, Fla.), who are tied for 10th place. Song and McNaughton carded a one-over par (72) in the first round.
“Tarah has been working hard,” head coach Jill Briles-Hinton said. “She deserves all the success she is having.”
Other finishers for Florida include sophomore Camila Gonzalez (Bucaramanga, Colombia) who is tied for 18th place 75. Junior Andrea Vander Lende (Longwood, Fla.) carded a 76 and is tied for 26th place. Sophomore Aimee Cho (Orlando, Fla.) is tied for 40th after carding a 79.
A SEC team has won the ACC/SEC Challenge since it first began in 2000. Auburn won it in 2000 and 2002, and Florida won the tournament in 2001.
The Lady Gators will tee off Saturday morning for the second round.
