UF’s Mirzadeh and Holmia In Action At ITA

The University of Florida men's tennis team's returning two All-Americans were in action on Thursday at the 2003 ITA All-America championships as sophomore Janne Holmia and junior Hamid Mirzadeh were in play.
Holmia, ranked fifth in the preseason ITA poll, defeated his first opponent of the day as he took out Evghenii Corduneanu of Louisiana Lafayette in the Round of 64. Holmia's was up a break in the third set of his next match before San Diego's Pierrick Ysern came back for a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Mirzadeh, ranked eighth in the nation, was edged in his opening match to 85th-ranked Guilaume Bouvier of Boise State (6-7(2); 7-6(9); 6-2. He then pulled out of the consolation bracket due to injury.
Florida was the only team in the country that was represented in the main draw by two top eight ranked players.
