Roberson, Moss Lead Hoops to 102-78 Win Over FAMU

Sophomore guard Anthony Roberson scored 20 points and sophomore forward Adrian Moss recorded his first career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds in a 102-78 rout of the visiting Florida A&M Rattlers at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center Tuesday night.
"I got great passes,"said Moss, "that is why we got to score inside almost anytime we wanted to. It was a system that worked pretty well. I just had to go to the board and rebound."
After both teams got off to a slow start, the Gators put together a 17-0 run in the middle of the first half to take a 29-11 lead. Florida did not let down and took a 43-31 lead into intermission.
Held to only two points in the first half, Roberson led the team on a 33-11 run early in the second half by scoring six buckets, including four threes. He also had a team-high seven assists on the night. Moss also stepped up his game in the second half, scoring 12 points and pulling down seven boards.
"[Coach Donovan] came at me harder [at halftime], so in the second half I tried to bring a little more intensity," said Roberson. "I think that the biggest thing with me is that coach wanted me to come out with energy every game."
Florida dominated the paint outscoring the Rattlers 54-10 and outrebounding them 59-31. Lee, Bonell Colas, Matt Walsh, Roberson, Moss and Mohamed Abukar all scored in double figures. This marks the second time in three games that six Gators have scored in double figures.
"They're just so physical, just so overpowering around the basket," said FAMU Head Coach Mike Gillespie. "It was difficult for us to get a rebound tonight."
Florida has now won 39 consecutive non-conference home games. They have not lost a home non-conference game since the 1997-1998 season.
The Gators travel to Jacksonville to play instate rival University of Central Florida at Jacksonville Memorial Arena Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
