Saturday, March 1, 2003 | Women's Golf
The University of Florida women's golf team dropped 16 strokes in the second round and is currently in second place with a score of 592 (304-288) at the 2003 Lady Puerto Rico Classic held at the Palmas Del Mar Country Club in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Duke is currently in first place with a score of 579 (291-288).
"I am very pleased with how these ladies played today," Head Coach Jill Briles-Hinton said. "We had a great second round, because playing two rounds in one day can be very tough. They need to stay focused and committed to their goals tomorrow and give it everything they have got."
Freshman Aimee Cho (Orlando, Fla.) is currently in second place with a score of 143, after shooting a one-over-par 73 in the first round and then a two-under-par 70 in the second round.
"Aimee is having a great tournament and she has put herself in a position to win," Briles-Hinton said.
Three Lady Gator's are in a six-way tie for 22nd place with a score of 150. After shooting a seven-over-par 79 in the first round, senior Jeanne Cho (Bradenton, Fla.) came back to shoot a one-under-par 71 to finish the first day of competition tied for 22nd place. Junior Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla.) and sophomore Andrea Vander Lende (Longwood, Fla.) are also tied for 22nd place.
