W-Tennis Receives 8 Bids for NCAA Singles &Doubles

The University of Florida women's tennis team received a total of eight individual bids into the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, the NCAA Committee released today.
Five Gators will compete in the 64-player singles draw, while a program-record three doubles team received a bid into the 32-team doubles event, which is hosted by the University of Florida. The NCAA Singles Championship begins on Monday, May 19 and runs through May 24, with one round played each day at the Ring Tennis Complex. The NCAA Doubles Championship gets underway on Tuesday, May 20, as the competitors play one round each day capped with the final on May 24th.
Representing the Gators in the singles draw will be Lindsay Dawaf, Alexis Gordon, Zerene Reyes, Julie Rotondi and Julia Scaringe. In doubles, the tandems of Jennifer Magley and Reyes, Dawaf and Rotondi, and Gordon and Scaringe all received a bid to compete.
UF had received two doubles bids seven different times prior to the 2003 selections. A record six Gators were selected to the 1997 singles field.
Gators have won four NCAA Singles titles and four NCAA Doubles titles during the 22-year history of the event.
