The Gators (16-6) didn't waste any time winning the doubles point as India Houghton and Lucie Pawlak blanked Jimena Gomez Alonso and Alexandra Panagiotidou 6-0 at number three, and Valery Gynina and Brooke Black teamed up at number two to best Brooke Schafer and Arina Babenko 6-1.
Florida jumped out to early leads in singles as well, taking the first set in five of the six matches. At number six singles, NIkola Daubnerova blanked Jimena Gomez Alonso in the first, while Gynina dropped just one game in her first set at number two. Gabia Paskauskas lost just two games at number three singles, Brooke Black won her first set 6-3 over Alexandra Panagiotidou at number four, and Lucie Pawlak topped Arina Babenko in the first 7-5 in the fifth slot.
The Razorbacks (14-14) wouldn't go without a fight, however. Panagiotidou evened her match against Black with a 6-3 win in the second, and Jimena Gomez Alonso knotted up her match against Daubnerova with a 6-4 second set victory.
Gynina eventually put Shafer away with a 7-5 win in the second giving the Gators a 2-0 advantage. Pawlak made it 3-0 Florida with her 6-4 victory in the second.
