Gators Ready for NCAA First Round on Friday

The University of Florida women's tennis team plays host to Florida Atlantic in the first round of the NCAA Tennis Championships on Friday, May 9th beginning at 2 p.m. at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex.
The Gators, ranked No. 2 in the country with a 25-2 overall record, received the No. 2 seed in the 64-team draw. Florida faces Florida Atlantic (19-5) in its NCAA First Round contest on Friday, May 9 beginning at 2:00 p.m. The other NCAA Women's First Round match played in Gainesville features Tulane (19-4) versus Texas (11-14). That match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday. The winning teams from those matches play each other in Second Round on Saturday at 5 p.m. Since the NCAA Women's Championships expanded its field to 64 teams in 1999, UF has hosted its First and Second round matches every year.
Florida is making its 21st appearance in the 22-year history of the NCAA Championships, missing only the 1986 event. The Gators won NCAA team titles in 1992, 1996 and 1998 and have advanced to at least the NCAA Semifinals 15 times in the last 16 years.
Tickets for the NCAA First and Second Round matches played in Gainesville may be purchased in advance or on the day of the tournament. An all-session pass is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for senior citizens, college students, or children under 17. Singles day tickets for Friday and Saturday are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for senior citizens, college students, or children under 17.
