UF Football Opener and Florida A&M Games Available

Sunshine Network and the University of Florida today announced that the August 30 (6:00 p.m.) San Jose State at Florida and the September 13 (6:00 p.m.) Florida A&M at Florida college football games will be made available live via pay-per-view (PPV) to viewers of participating cable systems, satellite systems and commercial establishments throughout Florida.
The live PPV airings will be in addition to Sunshine Network's taped presentations of all regular season Gator football games airing during the network's Sunday morning editions of "Breakfast with the Gators," beginning 8:30 a.m. and Tuesday nights at 10:30 p.m.
Per Southeastern Conference television contracts, when an SEC team does not have its game selected by CBS, ESPN or Jefferson-Pilot, it is permitted to televise that game live on a statewide basis only on pay-per-view. Therefore, Sunshine Network cannot air these games live on the network, but can make them available to cable/satellite systems and commercial establishments to deliver via pay-per-view.
David Steele, Nat Moore and Steve Babik comprise Sunshine Network's Florida Gators football telecast team and will provide commentary for the pay-per-view presentations. The University Athletic Association will once again donate proceeds from the telecasts to the UF Libraries. Since 1992, the UAA has donated over $540,000 to the UF Libraries through these telecasts.
The games will be offered, through Sunshine Network, to cable/satellite systems throughout the state of Florida and distributed to individual residential subscribers at a suggested retail price of $29.95 on game day. Cable/satellite systems offering the games on pay-per-view will designate a channel location, separate from Sunshine Network's channel, for the pay-per-view presentations. Viewers should call/contact their local cable/satellite company for further details.
