W-Tennis Doubles Team Captures Title at UNLV
Monday, January 19, 2004 | Women's Tennis
The University of Florida women's tennis doubles team of Boglarka Berecz and Nina Suvak captured the Freeman Memorial Doubles Title Sunday afternoon on the campus of UNLV.
The Gator duo first downed Joslynn Burkett and Capanollo of Arizona State, 8-4, and then got by Tennessee's Ashley Robards and Sabita Maharaj by the same score in the final.
"Nina and Boglarka easily played their best doubles match of the tournament in the final," UF head coach Roland Thornqvist said. "Entering the match, they had played very smart, but not necessarily solid tennis and they focused on playing better. They did that and capped an excellent weekend for us."
Berecz and Suvak next return to Gainesville to join the rest of their teammates in preparation for their dual match opener on Saturday, January 24, when the top-ranked Gators play host to Florida Atlantic.
