M. Golf in Ninth at Isleworth, Every Tied for Lead

The University of Florida men's golf team opened the inaugural Isleworth Invitational with a two-round score of 597, which was good enough for a ninth-place finish at the Isleworth Country Club.
The Gators had a good morning on the 7,426-yard course, as they found themselves tied for fourth place after the opening round with a seven-over par score of 295.
In the afternoon, Florida came back with a 14-over par score of 302, to drop five spots into ninth place, with the final round of play remaining tomorrow morning.
"There is certainly some room for improvement," Head Coach Buddy Alexander said. "With the exception of Matt (Every), we didn't play at the level that we are capable of."
Junior Matt Every (Daytona Beach, Fla.) continued to play well, as he tamed Tiger Woods' home golf course, carding rounds of 67 and 70, to grab a share of the tournament lead at seven-under par with Georgia Tech's Roberto Castro and Oklahoma State's Pablo Martin. Every's first round score of 67, tied for the tournament low score to date and gives the junior his fourth round of at or below par this season.
Junior Ryan Cochran (Paducah, Ky.), enters the final round of play tied for 46th place, after carding rounds of 75 and 78, for a nine-over par total of 153.
Only two strokes behind Cochran is redshirt freshman, Manuel Villegas (Medellin, Columbia), who carded an 11-over par total of 155. Villegas, playing in his third career collegiate golf tournament, carded round of 80 and 75 in the opening rounds.
Junior Brett Stegmaier (Madison, Conn.) and true freshman Will Strickler (Charlottesville, Va.) are locked in 58th position following the 36-hole opening day. Stegmaier, carded rounds of 76 and 80, while Strickler, making his collegiate golf debut, recorded rounds of 77 and 79. The duo is tied with three other golfers with the 12-over par score of 156.
The final 18 holes is scheduled for tomorrow morning at the Isleworth Country Club.
