Men's Tennis In Action At Bulldog Scramble

Five members of the University of Florida men's tennis team were in action at the Bulldog Scramble in Athens, Ga., on Friday. Overall, UF came away with three wins in singles matches a victories on both doubles courts.
Sophomore Martin Stiegwardt outlasted Ole Miss' Fredrik Aarum after both players requested a 10-point tiebreaker in the third set. After dropping the first set, 6-4, Stiegwardt posted a 7-6 score in the second set before taking the tiebreak, 10-3. The win was Stiegwardt's 12th on the fall, tying junior Stefan Tell for the second highest total on the team after Tell came away with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over South Carolina's Rob Cassidy. Freshman Nestor Briceno rounded out the list of UF winners in singles play as he defeated Ole Miss' Eric Claesson (6-7, 6-1, 6-4).
In doubles play, Bricen teamed with junior Jordan Dolberg to defeated South Carolina's Pedro Rodrigues and Ben Atkinso, 8-6. Stiegwardt and Tell paired for an 8-5 win over Claesson and Juan Pablo Di Cesare of Ole Miss. With the win, the team improved to 5-3 on the fall.
Tomorrow's play at the Bulldog Scramble will begin at 11 a.m. Doubles matches will be played first, with singles to follow immediately afterward.
