The No. 9 University of Florida women's golf team is in 13th place at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge after carding a 314 in the first round Monday. The Gators are playing at the par-71 Palos Verdes Golf Course.
UCLA is in first place with a score of 286, followed by New Mexico (299), South Carolina (302), Arizona (303), The Ohio State (303) and California (304).
Sophomore Aimee Cho (Orlando, Fla.) led the Gators as she carded a three-over par 74. Cho is tied for 12th place heading into the second round.
Sophomore Tarah McNaughton (Bradenton, Fla.) is tied for 43rd place after carding a 79 for the first round. McNaughton birdied on the eighth and 17th hole, but had a double-bogey on the 12th hole.
Other finishers for the Gators included: sophomore Camila Gonzalez (Bucaramanga, Colombia) who is tied for 51st place with an 80, senior Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla.) turned in a score of 81 to tie for 56th place, and junior Andrea Vander Lende (Longwood, Fla.), is tied for 72nd with a score of 85.
The Gators will tee of Tuesday morning for the second round of the regional challenge. The tournament will wrap up on Wednesday, and live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
