University of Florida men's golf coach Buddy Alexander was named the Eaton Golf Pride Dave Williams National Coach of the Year, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Tuesday.
Alexander, who also earned his second consecutive SEC and GCAA Southeast Region Coach of the Year honors in 2004, led Florida to seven victories this season, which is the second most in school history. His Gator squad also tied school records for most top-five finishes (13) and top-10 finishes (14) in a season, while setting the UF record with 13 consecutive top-five finishes. This marks the fourth national coach of the year honor during Alexander's career as he earned the GCAA honor in 2001 and 1993 and was named the Golfweek National Coach of the Year in 1993. A 2001 inductee into the GCAA Hall of Fame, Alexander has been named the SEC Coach of the Year seven times and the regional/district Coach of the Year eight times in his 26 years as a collegiate head coach.
