Men's Tennis Moves On At SEC Indoors

University of Florida freshman Greg Ouellette advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles bracket and was a member of one of two Florida teams to move into the same round on Saturday at the 2005 SEC Men's Tennis Coaches' Indoor Championships at the Hilton Rivercenter Racquet Club in New Orleans.
Ouellette, who is making his first-ever appearance in the tournament, started the day by working his way past Kentucky's Matt Emery, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. In the round of 16, Ouellette advanced with a straight set 6-3, 6-4 victory over LSU's Peter Richman. Ouellette will square off against Tennessee's lone senior Mark Dietrich on Sunday at 9 a.m.
Senior Vladimir Obradovic (No. 63) also worked his way past the singles round of 32 with a 6-3, 6-4 win over LSU's Danny Bryan. However, Obradovic was edged in the round of 16 where he fell to Mississippi State's Luiz Carvalho, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5).
Ouellette also moved to the quarterfinals of the doubles bracket as he teamed with Stefan Tell to defeat Mississippi State's Pierre Mouillon and Philippe Frayssinoux, 8-5. The Florida duo will play the tournament's top-seeded and 13th-ranked Ken Skupski and Mark Growcott of LSU on Sunday.
In doubles action, Jordan Dolberg and Ryan Sherry quickly defeated Matic Omerzel and Ricardo Gonzales of Georgia, 8-1. They will advance to play Mississippi State's 10th-ranked Luiz Carvalho and Jose-Carlos Pinto on Sunday.
Florida's Chris Brandi and Ryan Sherry picked up wins in singles consolation matches. They both claimed victories in straight sets in optional matches. Brandi defeated Georgia's Colin Purcell, 7-5, 6-2, while Sherry defeated Tennessee's Ben Rogers, 7-5, 6-3.
