Siler Named To 2004 Scripps Freshman All-America Team
Tuesday, January 4, 2005 | Football
University of Florida freshman linebacker Brandon Siler (6-2, 230) was named to fourth annual Freshman All-American team by The Football Writers Association of America and Scripps on Tuesday morning during the association's annual awards breakfast.
The Orlando native played in 12 games in 2004 and started six times. He finished his first season in Gainesville as the leading tackler on the team with 77 stops. He also had 9.5 tackles for loss, which ranked second on the squad and first among linebackers. In addition, Siler had a pair of sacks and recorded three quarterback hurries.
The team and coach are selected by a group of writers led by FWAA second vice-president Mike Griffith of the Knoxville News-Sentinel, a member of the Scripps chain. Both true freshmen and redshirt freshmen were considered for the team and so noted.
