Young Defeated In Qualifying Draw at ITA Southeast Region Indoor Championships

University of Florida redshirt freshman Shaun Young was defeated in the singles qualifying draw at the ITA Southeast Region Indoor Championships Thursday morning by Georgia State's Jacek Twaroski, 7-6, 6-1, in Memphis, Tenn. Several Gators will be in action tomorrow as the main draw in singles and doubles begins Friday.
Sophomore Greg Ouellette leads seven members of the team in singles. Ouellette garnered the events top seed and will play in the Round of 64 tomorrow afternoon after receiving a first round bye. Four Florida teams will appear in the doubles draw including Ouellette who teams with junior Janne Holmia as the No. 2 seed in the 64 team draw.
Players from the Southeast region are vying for spots in the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Indoor Championships which will be hosted by Ohio State University for the first time November 3-6. Participants for the second national championship of the 2005-06 season are determined through the regional championships and at-large selections will be announced on October 25.
