Men's Tennis Continues Success At Bulldog Scramble
Saturday, November 5, 2005 | Men's Tennis
For the second straight day, all three members of the University of Florida men's tennis team in action at the Bulldog Scramble came away with singles victories as play continued in Athens, Ga., Saturday.
Senior Ryan Sherry got his second win of the fall by outlasting Georgia sophomore Ricardo Gonzalez, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (9), while senior Stefan Tell also took his match with Kentucky's Marcus Sundh to three sets before securing the 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. His victory improved his record to a team-leading 7-2 on the fall. Redshirt freshman Shaun Young picked up his second consecutive straight set win posting a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Kentucky's Shane Collins.
Tell and Young paired on the doubles courts where they were defeated by Ole Miss' Jakob Klaeson and Bram Ten Berge, 8-2.
The Bulldog Scramble is a non-bracketed tournament, featuring the five schools competing head-to-head in a format similar to the dual match season. The players who lose will not be knocked out of the competition; they will continue to play as the teams go through the round-robin event.
