Head Swim Coach Gregg Troy and men's swimmer Ryan Lochte Take SEC's Top Honors

University of Florida Head Swimming Coach Gregg Troy and junior men's swimmer Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.) were recognized as the 2005 Knoxville News-Sentinel's Southeastern Conference Men's Coach of the Year and the SEC Men's Swimmer of the Year.
Leading the Gators to a 12-1 overall record this year, Troy earned his third career SEC Men's Coach of the Year honor and led the Gators to their highest win total since the 1962 season when Florida posted a record of 13-1. Troy has guided Florida to four straight SEC runner-up finishes and five-consecutive top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships.
Earning his second career SEC Men's Swimmer of the Year honor, Lochte capped an impressive SEC Championship meet where he broke two American, three U.S. Open, three NCAA, nine SEC and UF records as well as 10 Stephen C. O'Connell Center pool records. The 2004 Olympic gold and silver medalist is the top seed in his three individual events at NCAA's and will swim on four of Florida's five relays.
The Gators open the 2005 Men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday, March 24, in Minneapolis, Minn. at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
