Lochte Earns Pair Of Medals At World Swimming Championships

Senior Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.) captured a pair of medals at the FINA World Swimming Championships on Friday in Montreal. Lochte helped the United States win the 200-meter freestyle relay and finished third in the 200-meter backstroke.
Lochte, along with Michael Phelps, Peter Vanderkaay, and Klete Keller finished over three seconds ahead of the second-place Canadian team in the 200 free relay to earn his gold medal at the world championships.
Lochte erased five-tenths of a second off his best time this year in the 200-meter backstroke, but it wasn't enough as American Aaron Peirsol won the race in a time of 1:54.66. Australian Markus Rogan edged Lochte in the race for second with a time of 1:56.63. Lochte's time of 1:57.00 gives him two of this year's top-five times in the 200 backstroke.
Lochte will compete in the 400-meter individual medley on Saturday.
