Sunday, January 22, 2006 | Men's Tennis
University of Florida men's tennis sophomore Nestor Briceno wrapped up play at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships Sunday as he came away with a victory in Lexington, Ky., before play in the singles consolation bracket was complete.
Briceno opened the day with a straight set victory over Auburn's Pawel Dilaj, 7-6 (2), 6-4 in the consolation quarterfinals. Briceno then advanced to the finals of the consolation draw when Ole Miss' 83rd-ranked Bram ten Berge withdrew due to injury. Briceno was scheduled to play Auburn's 94th-ranked Alex Schweizer Monday morning; however, the match will not be played due to travel conflicts.
The second-ranked Gators return home to begin the 2006 dual match season against UCF on Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. in Gainesville. Florida looks for its 18th straight opening day victory.
