University of Florida men's tennis junior Greg Ouellette paced the squad with a strong showing Saturday at the ITA Region III Indoor Tournament in Lexington, KY.
All three of Florida's doubles teams were in action in the round of 32, however, only one advanced when Ouellette and Nestor Briceno outlasted Morehead State's Jacob McLeod and Adam Sorti, 9-8 (6). With the victory, the Gator tandem will face Terence Nugent and Milan Krnjetin in the Round of 16.
Ouellette, who was one of four Gators in the Round of 64, picked up his second straight set victory in as many days with a 6-4, 6-0 showing against LSU's Eric DeRoche. The win set up a meeting with Alabama's Sammy Struyf in the Round of 32 that saw Ouellette advance late Friday evening with a 6-4, 7-5 showing.
Action continues at the event through Monday as players from around the country compete to earn a trip to the ITA Regional Indoor Championships next month in Columbus, OH.
