Former University of Florida wide receivers Ike Hilliard and Lee McGriff were among the members of the 11th Anniversary class inducted into the Florida-Georgia Hall of Fame on Friday in Jacksonville. They were joined by Rodney Hampton and Willie McClendon from the University of Georgia.
The official induction ceremony, sponsored by Outback Steakhouse, was held at noon at the Championship Dreams Tent outside Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.
Hilliard's signature game against Georgia came in 1995, when he hauled in five passes for 99 yards and two touchdowns, as the Gators claimed a 52-17 victory over the Bulldogs.
In 1996, he earned first-team All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association after completing a senior season in which he caught 47 passes for 900 yards and 10 touchdowns. He currently stands second in school history in career touchdown receptions (29), fifth in career receiving yards (2,214) and 10th in career receptions (126).
McGriff played a key role in the 1973 clash with Georgia, catching a touchdown pass on fourth down during the game's final quarter to spark an 11-10 Florida win. From 1972-74, he totaled nine receptions for 180 yards against the Bulldogs.
After his playing career at Florida came to an end, McGriff served as an assistant coach for the Gators from 1978-82. He is currently the football color analyst on the Gator Radio Network, his second stint with the network after having previously worked as the Gators' football radio color analyst for seven seasons.
