Ouellette Advances To Round of 16 At ITA All-American Championships

University of Florida men's tennis junior Greg Ouellette (Ormond Beach, Fla.) posted two victories to advance to the Round of 16 in the main singles draw at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships in Tulsa.
Ouellette (No. 26) won both his matches in straight sets to set up a meeting with Virginia's sixth-ranked Somdev Devvarman on Friday. Ouellette began the event by defeating Wake Forest's Todd Paul (No. 14), 6-2, 6-4 before moving on to take out Ohio State's Devin Mullings (No. 56), 6-2, 6-3.
Florida junior Nestor Briceno (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) also competed, but was defeated in his opening match by No. 60 Chris Klingemann (Ohio State), 6-4, 6-2. Briceno had a good showing in the consolation draw where he defeated Alabama's 35th-ranked Joseph Jung (6-2, 6-1). Briceno advanced in the draw to play No. 78 Eidy Igarashi (Old Dominion).
The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships offer the first national singles and doubles titles of the 2006-07 collegiate tennis season, and are followed by the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the third event is the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.
