Florida Football Announces Gator Walk Brick Project Plans
Friday, April 21, 2006 | Football
As part of the 100-year celebration of Florida football, fans now have the opportunity to secure their place in history by participating in the Gator Walk Brick Project.
Prior to the 2005 season, the Gator Walk was established to enable fans to greet the team upon its arrival at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Before each home contest, fans lined the sidewalk located at the North end of the stadium to wish the team well as it made its way to the locker room.
The bricks, which can be ordered starting the week of April 22, will be engraved with a person's name and can be personalized with messages of support for the Gators. Each will be numbered and will come with a certificate of authenticity. The bricks will be in place prior to the start to the 2006 season and the money raised for the project will provide athletic scholarship endowments.
A 4"x8" brick can be purchased for $100 (replica bricks can be purchased for $50) and 8"x8" brick with the 100-year anniversary logo can be purchased for $500 (replica bricks can be purchased for $250).
