Florida Men's Tennis Continues Action at Southern Intercollegiate

Thee members of the University of Florida men's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinal round of their respective singles draws with a pair of victories, while one UF doubles team made it to the Round of 16 at the Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga. on Saturday.
Florida's 45th-ranked Nestor Briceno made his way to the quarterfinals by outlasting Louisville's Damar Johnson (7-6, 4-6, 6-1) and South Alabama's Robert Hodel (7-5, 4-6, 6-1). The UF junior will square off against Georgia's No. 2 ranked John Isner on Sunday.
Gator Billy Mulligan and Shaun Young each made it to the quarterfinals of the Division III singles draw with straight set victories in each of their matches Saturday. Mulligan took out Vanderbilt's Scott Lieberman to begin the day (6-4, 6-1) and posted a 6-4, 6-2 win against UNC-Charlotte's Ricky Cuellar. He advanced to face Stuart Misner of Samford. Young collected a 6-2, 6-1 win against Charleston Southern's Chris Peek before going on to defeat UNC-Charlotte's Brad Clinardy, 7-5, 6-2. He now faces ETSU's Travis Sandlat.
Young paired with freshman Geoffrey Barton on the doubles court for a quick 8-0 decision over Southeastern Louisiana's Olivier Zieleniecki/ Matthieu Leboucher. On Sunday, the UF tandem squares off against Christopher Doerr and Pjotrs Necajevsof Mississippi State.
