Florida Men?s Tennis Ends Run At Southern Intercollegiate

Three members of the University of Florida men's tennis team saw their run at the 2006 Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga. come to a close Sunday as did one UF doubles squad.
Florida's Nestor Briceno (No. 45) fell to Georgia's John Isner, who is ranked No. 2 nationally, in the Division I singles quarterfinals (6-2, 7-6 (5). Gators Bully Mulligan and Shaun Young each took losses in the Division III singles quarterfinals. After being edged in the first set, 7-6, by Samford's Stuart Misner, Mulligan came back to win the second, 6-3. However, the UF sophomore was defeated in the third, 6-0. Young dropped his match in straight sets to Eastern Tennessee State's Travis Andlat (7-5, 6-2).
Young went on to pair with freshman Geoffrey Barton in the Division II doubles round of 16 where to two were defeated by Mississippi State's Christopher Doerr and Pjotrs Necajevs, 8-1.
Florida continues its fall season at the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Okla. The event gets underway on Friday, Sept. 29.
