Men's Tennis Starts Play At SEC Coaches' Indoor Championships

Three members of the University of Florida men's tennis team advanced in their respective singles draw on the opening day of the 2007 SEC Coaches' Indoor Championships at the Rivercenter Racquet and Health Club in New Orleans.
UF juniors Greg Ouellette (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and Nestor Briceno (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) earned three-set victories in the Singles "A" Draw to set up matches on Saturday with members of the Georgia squad. Ouellette (No. 16) defeated Ole Miss' Kalle Norberg (6-2, 4-6, 6-3) and will face UGA's 66th-ranked Matic Omerzel. Briceno outlasted Mattias Wellerman (Ole Miss), 6-2, 5-7, 6-3, to move on to meet John Isner, who is ranked No. 2 nationally and is the top seed in the draw.
Freshman Geoffrey Barton added to UF's win total as he edged Mississippi State's Eric Lim in the Singles "B" draw, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (4). His victory set up a quarterfinal match against Tennessee's Chris Racz on Saturday morning.
