Women's Tennis Trio Advances at ITA South Regionals

The University of Florida's Whitney Benik, Anastasia Revzina and Diana Srebrovic each won two rounds of singles play and advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA South Region Tennis Championships on Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Benik defeated Stetson's Valentina Galbrarini, 7-5, 6-2, and Alabama's Alice Tunaru, 7-6 (6), 6-2, to march into Sunday's action. Revzina earned a 6-4, 7-6 (5) win over Troy's Annabelle Bares before logging a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Mississippi's Laura van de Stroet. Srebrovic, the No. 2 seed in the 64-player event, posted a pair of convincing decisions, topping Georgia's Adrienne Elsberry, 6-3, 6-0, and Alabama's Bianca Svensson, 6-0, 6-1.
The two finalists of the four-day event receive a berth into the ITA National Indoor Championships.
Also in action on Saturday was Florida's Megan Alexander and Lolita Frangulyan, who lost their respective opening-round matches. Both continue competition in the consolation draw on Sunday.
The 32-team doubles draw begins on Sunday, when the Gator tandems of Benik & Srebrovic and Alexander & Frangulyan take the court.
