GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The NCAA announced the field of 64 teams set to compete in the 2026 Division I Women's Tennis Team Championship this afternoon, and the No. 14 Florida Gators are heading to Michigan where they will take on Toledo for their first round match this Saturday, May 2 at 10 a.m. EDT.
This is the 42nd trip to the NCAA Tournament for the Gators who have won seven national championships.
"Making the tournament was the first step," said Associated Head Coach Axel Damiens. "We've got big goals, and we can only achieve them if we make the tournament. It's good to be back in it. That's been the standard here at Florida, but it's just the first step towards something bigger that we are trying to create and build.
"We've got a young team. We're going to obviously be in a tough environment and its good for us to learn, it's good for us to grow. Now, in this part of the season, it's survive and advance, so that's what we're going to try and do. Obviously, these are teams that we don't see that often so the homework is about to begin tonight, and we'll get started game planning for Toledo."
The host Wolverines square off against Illinois State in the other first round match, with the winners playing one another on Sunday, May 3.
First and second round matches are all at home sites with four teams at each location. Thirty conference champions received automatic spots into the tournament with the remaining 34 teams receiving at-large bids.
