Tuesday, October 23, 2007 | Women's Tennis
The University of Florida women's tennis doubles team of Whitney Benik and Diana Srebrovic lost their semifinal match in the ITA South Regional Championships played on Tuesday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
The unranked Florida tandem, which was playing in its first tournament of the year, dropped an 8-2 decision to Georgia Tech's top-seeded and third-ranked Whitney McCray and Kristi Miller, which went on to win the South Regional title.
Prior to this event, Benik and Srebrovic had teamed for only four matches.
The Gators next await word of any at-large bids they might receive into in the ITA National Indoor Championships, held November 1-4 in Columbus, Ohio. Florida players not competing in the national event are expected to participate in the SEC Coaches Fall Classic, scheduled for November 2-4 in Auburn, Ala., in the final event slated for the fall.
