Friday, October 5, 2007 | Men's Tennis
University of Florida men's tennis senior Greg Ouellette (Ormond Beach) posted a pair of straight-set victories Thursday at the Polo ITA All-America Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. With the victories, Ouellette advanced to take on San Diego's 60th-ranked Thomas Liversage on Friday in the Round of 16 at 11:30 a.m. ET.
Ouellette (No. 10), who was making his first appearance of the fall, took out Boise State's 38th-ranked Clancy Shields in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) before moving on to defeat Texas Tech's Bojan Szumanski without giving up a set as well (6-3, 6-1).
On Thursday evening Ouellette teamed with freshman Tyler Hochwalt (Scottsdale, Ariz.) in the main doubles draw. The Florida pair, which is ranked eighth in the country, fell short to Tulsa's Andy Connelly and Ross Cunningham, 9-8 (3).
The ITA All-America Championships are the first of three national championship events during the 2007-08 collegiate tennis season. The other two are the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the season-ending NCAA Championships in May
