Women's Tennis Enjoys Solid Day at Riviera All-American

The University of Florida?s Csilla Borsanyi, Megan Alexander and Diana Srebrovic won their respective first round matches on the opening day of play at the Riviera/ITA All-American Women?s Tennis Championships.
Borsanyi roared back from a 5-1 deficit against North Carolina?s Sanaz Marand to post a 7-5, 6-0 victory to advance to the round of 16 of the national event.
Alexander recorded an impressive 6-4, 6-3 win over Southern California?s Sarah Fansler to advance to the next round, where she will play California?s Suzi Babos, the 2006 NCAA Singles Champion.
Srebrovic showed her experience and spirit in national tournaments, as she overcame early jitters to earn a 6-4, 6-3 decision against Furman?s Laura Goia.
?Overall, we played with a lot of heart and intensity and hopefully we can keep it going in the next round,? UF Associate Head Coach Dave Balogh said. ?Csilla did a great job of keeping balls in play and you could tell the passion in her play, as she just refused to lose. Megan played unbelievable tennis and I?m so proud of her effort. Every time Diana?s back is against the wall, she comes out and plays great and she did that today. She has an uncanny ability to turn up her game in tough situations.?
Borsanyi and Srebrovic later paired in first-round doubles action, where the Gator duo dropped an 8-6 outcome to Tennessee?s Caitlin Whoriskey and Stephanie Wetmore. They will continue play in the back draw on Friday.
Also in action on Thursday was the UF doubles team of Alexander and Lolita Frangulyan, which lost 8-3 to Arkansas? Ela Kaluder and Aurelija Miseviciute.
