Men's Tennis Defeats Arkansas, 6-1

The University of Florida men's tennis team returned to Southeastern Conference action Friday afternoon with a 6-1 victory over Arkansas in Gainesville. With the win, UF improved to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in the SEC. Arkansas fell to 7-14 on the year and 0-5 in the league.
Florida swept the doubles courts to take the 1-0 advantage. Nestor Briceno and Geoffrey Barton teamed on court three to defeat Gabriel Mattos and Bradwin William, 8-5. Greg Ouellette and Jesse Levine, who entered the ITA rankings at No. 6 this week, edged 27th-ranked Colin Mascall and Dmitry Vlaskin, 9-8 (3). The win was the fourth over a ranked opponent for the Florida duo this season. Dan Cash and Billy Mulligan completed the sweep when the defeated Jorge Villanueva and Dmitry Vlaskin on court two, 8-5.
In singles play, action on the top three courts finished in a flurry with straight set Florida wins coming within minutes of each other to secure the match.
Ouellette built the lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court two Mascall in just under an hour. One minute after that, Briceno took out Andrei Nicoara on court three (6-2, 6-2) to put the Gators to within one of winning the match.
Levine provided the clincher and put the Gators ahead 4-0 when Stode (No. 95) double faulted at the end the match top of the order (6-2, 6-1). With the victory, Levine remained perfect on the season (11-0) and 8-0 against ranked opponents.
Dolberg and Dan Cash added to the Florida point total with wins on courts five and six, respectively. Dolberg defeated Vlaskin (6-1, 6-2), while Cash edged Villanueva (4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (2)).
Florida closes out its five-match home stand on Sunday, March 25 against No. 10 LSU. Admission to the match is free.
