Men's Tennis Wins At Mississippi State, 6-1

The No. 13 University of Florida men's tennis team took the doubles point and carried the success into singles as the Gators defeated No. 58 Mississippi State, 6-1, Sunday afternoon in Starkville, Miss.
The win was the first for UF in Southeastern Conference play this year as Florida improved to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the league. Mississippi State slipped to 3-5 on the year and 0-2 in SEC play.
Florida took the first point of the match, winning on two of the three doubles courts. UF's Greg Ouellette and Jesse Levine teamed to defeat the pair of Ivan Bjelica and Artem Kuznetsov, 8-5, on the top court. Nestor Briceno and Geoffrey Barton clinched the point with an 8-6 showing on court three against Ryan Farlow and Pjotrs Necajevs.
Levine (No. 45) quickly built the lead to 2-0 as he downed MSU's 38th-ranked Bjelica (6-0, 6-4) on court one. With the win, the UF freshman improved to 7-0 on the year as he has won each of his matches in straight sets.
Moments later, Jordan Dolberg gave the Gators a 3-0 lead by defeating Edouard Benchetrit (6-4, 6-2) on court five. Billy Mulligan gave UF the win with his 6-4, 6-4 victory over Artem Kuznetsov on court four. The win was the second of the dual match season for Mulligan.
Ouellette (No. 19) held off Philippe Frayssinoux on court two (6-4, 2-6, 6-1) and Briceno (No. 99) came back on court three (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) to add to the Gator point total.
The Gators return to Gainesville to start a five-match home stand against No. 30 Tennessee on Friday, March 9, at 3 p.m. Admission is free.
