Men's Tennis Defeated By Ole Miss In SEC Tournament Semifinals, 4-2

The University of Florida men's tennis team fell just short in its effort to defeat No. 8 Ole Miss in the semifinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge as the Rebels held off the Gators, 4-2.
Florida, now 13-7 on the season and ranked 20th nationally, turns its attention to NCAA competition as it will have three weeks to prepare for the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships with regional play beginning on 16 campus sites May 11-13. The NCAA team draw will be announced Tuesday, May 1 at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPNews. The singles and doubles draws are set to be released at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, on ncaasports.com
Florida closes the SEC Tournament having advanced to the semifinals for the fifth-straight season and the eleventh time in school history as the Gators upset No. 16 Alabama on Friday morning, 4-3, to set up the meeting with the Rebels.
Things were even in the early stages of doubles play with UF building a 5-2 lead on court one and the scored evened at three and four each on courts two and three, respectively. However, Ole Miss' Jonas Berg and Matthias Wellerman defeated UF's Jordan Dolberg and Billy Mulligan on court two, 8-3, and Jakob Klaeson and Robbye Poole worked past UF's Nestor Briceno and Geoffrey Barton, 8-4, at the bottom of the order.
Florida got its wins on the top two singles courts where freshman Jesse Levine (3) and sophomore Greg Ouellette (18) were victorious in straight sets. Levine remained undefeated on the season (19-0) with a 7-5, 6-4 decision over No. 13 Erling Tveit on the top court. Levine's win was his ninth in a row in straight sets.
Ouellette evened the match for the first time at two each with his 6-3, 6-3 showing over Wellermann (No. 98) on court two. With his win, Ouellette improved to 16-4 on the year.
