In his fifth day as a professional, former University of Florida men's tennis player Jesse Levine (Boca Raton) paired with Alex Kuznetsov (USA) to upset seventh-seeded Michael Llodra (FRA) and Arnaud Clement (FRA), 7-6 (5), 6-4, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
Earlier this year, Llodra and Clement won the doubles championship at Wimbledon. With the victory, Levine and Kuznetsov advance to the Round of 16.
Two members of the current Florida roster will represent the Gators in the main draw of the junior U.S. Open, as Jeff Dadamo (Tampa) and Johnny Hamui (Wesley Chapel) start Sunday in the event that features the top 64 junior players in the world.
The U.S. Open is the highest annually-attended sporting event in the world. More than 95 million viewers watched the 2006 U.S. Open on CBS Sports and USA Network, and international broadcasts reached more than 180 countries.
