Myers Paces Women's Golf in First Round at Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior Whitney Myers (East Berlin, Pa.) tied her career-best round for the second time this year and fired a 2-under par 70 to lead the fifth-ranked Florida women's golf team in first-round action at the Wildcat Fall Invitational Saturday. Florida fired a first-round tally of 295, three shots off the leader, Alabama.

Myers' effort pulled the Lady Gators into sole possession of second place and placed her in a tie for third in the medalist race. She was stellar on the back nine to close out the day, carding three birdies in a stretch of four holes. Myers totaled five birdies on the day and is just three strokes off the pace set by Alabama's Stephanie Harter.

True freshman Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.) validated her top spot in the lineup, currently sitting in a tie for seventh after registering a first-round score of 72 to finish even on the day.

Seniors Tiffany Chudy (Miramar, Fla.) and Eleanor Tucker (Wilson, N.C.) rounded out the scoring with a 78 and 82, respectively. Chudy is tied for 38^th and Tucker is knotted in 54^th with two others.

Seeing her first tournament action of the year, redshirt junior Ornella Jouven (La Ciotat, France) came out strong in her season debut, scoring a 3-over par 75 to tie for 19^th. Along with Jouven, redshirt sophomore Brittany Nelson (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) competed in her first tournament of the season as an individual and recorded an 81.
