Men's Tennis Ranked 14th In ITA Poll

The University of Florida men's tennis team has been ranked 14th in the initial Collegiate Tennis Rankings, which was released Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. UF also had three members of its squad ranked in the singles poll.
In the singles poll, senior Greg Ouellette (Ormond Beach) checked in at No. 8, while newcomer Alex Lacroix (Paris, France) was ranked No. 57. Senior Nestor Briceno (Pembroke Pines) rounded out the UF list as he was No. 62.
The Gators were one of six SEC teams to crack the top 25 as Georgia was second, Ole Miss was fifth, Alabama was 13th, LSU was 19th and Tennessee was 24th. Overall, 11 of the 12 SEC teams appeared in the rankings, each of which was No. 56 or higher. Sixteen of the 19 opponents Florida will play dual matches against in 2008 appeared in the top 75 of the rankings.
UF head coach Andy Jackson is set to begin his seventh season in Gainesville, where the Gators start the dual match schedule on Sunday, Jan. 27 against No. 64 Furman at 1 p.m. at the Ring Tennis Complex. Prior to the match, UF travels to New Orleans, La., for the SEC Indoors, which will be held Jan. 18-21.
