Sunday, May 3, 2026 | Men's Tennis
The Gators’ season comes to an end after a 4-3 loss to the UCF Knights in the NCAA Second Round.
LAKE NONA, Fla. – The match was hard fought, but ultimately the Gators fell 4-3 to the UCF Knights in the NCAA Second Round. The team was just a court away from victory before their season came to an end.
Florida started strong by taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Court two's Adhithya Ganesan and Pablo Perez Ramos took a dominant 6-1 win over Wissam Abderrahman and Mehdi Benchakroun to start things off. Henry Jefferson and Tanapatt Nirundorn secured the point with a 6-4 victory over Yassine Dlimi and Paul Colin on court one. Kevin Edengren and Andreas Timini's match on court three against Nicolas Oliveira and Luca Hotze went unfinished, but were up 5-4 before abandoning the match.
The Gators continued the momentum into singles, taking the first set on four courts and going into first set tiebreaks on the final two. Ramos finished his match with a dominant 6-2, 6-3 win over Mehdi Benchakroun on court four. Jeremy Jin followed closely with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Pedro Rodrigues on court three to put the Gators in position to clinch. Unfortunately, losses from Claverie on court two, Jefferson on court five and Edengren on court six put the Knights even with the Gators at three apiece. This brought everything down to Ganesan on court one. Ganesan took the first set over Yassine Dlimi at 6-4, but was forced to go to a third set after Dlimi took set two. The third set went to a tiebreak, but with some powerful serves Dlimi was able to take the match for the Knights with a final score of 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(7-4).
