Savin comes to UF after two seasons at Arkansas and a standout playing career at Utah State.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida men's tennis program and Head Coach Adam Steinberg on Friday announced the addition of Roko Savin to the staff as an Assistant Coach.
Savin comes to the Gators after two years in the same role at Arkansas. Under his guidance, the Razorbacks reached the NCAA Tournament this past season after posting an 18-14 record in 2025. Two Razorbacks earned All-SEC accolades in that time, featuring a 2026 ITA All-American in sophomore Jakub Vrba. Prior to Arkansas, Savin enjoyed a highly successful four-year playing career at Utah State, where he etched his name into the top 15 of multiple all-time program records.
"We are excited to welcome Roko and his family to the Gator Tennis program," Steinberg said. "Roko is an outstanding coach, recruiter and mentor who shares our team-first vision for developing championship-caliber student-athletes both on and off the court. His experience in the SEC, combined with his success as a player and coach, makes him a tremendous addition to our program. Roko brings great energy, a strong work ethic and a passion for helping student-athletes reach their full potential, and I know our team will benefit from his leadership and expertise."
In his final season at Arkansas this past spring, Savin mentored Vrba to a sensational sophomore campaign as well as ITA All-America honors. Sitting at No. 20 in the final ITA rankings, Vrba became the first Razorback to finish inside the top 20 while being named an All-American since 2018. Vrba was also crowned First Team All-SEC – the first Razorback to do so in four seasons – en route to a 25-10 singles record.
During Savin's first year on staff in 2024-25, sophomore Lukas Palovic secured Second Team All-SEC status under his tutelage. Picking up 16 wins on courts one through three, Palovic went 10-4 at the No. 2 position for Arkansas.
"I am incredibly grateful to Coach Steinberg for the opportunity to join the Florida Tennis family," Savin said. "The University of Florida is one of the premier athletic institutions in the country, and the tradition of excellence within this program is second to none. Coach Steinberg has built a culture centered on team and the pursuit of championships and I am excited to contribute to that vision. I look forward to working with our student-athletes every day, helping them reach their goals on the court, in the classroom and in life, while representing the Gators with pride."
Savin began his coaching career after starring at Utah State across four seasons on the court from 2020-23. He concluded his time as an Aggie ranking eighth all-time in fall doubles victories (18), ninth in dual singles wins (37), 10th in overall singles victories (51) and 13th in combined wins (86). Savin recorded double-digit victories in singles and doubles in two of his final three years at Utah State, including a 21-14 mark in singles during the 2022-23 season.
As a senior at Utah State, Savin achieved overall records of 21-14 in singles and 14-8 in doubles. During the fall season, Savin won five-consecutive singles matches and opened the dual season with three-straight singles victories along with a four-match doubles winning streak. At the end of his senior season, Savin received recognition as a member of the CSC Academic All-District team, the Academic All-Mountain West team and as an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
Prior to competing at Utah State, Savin held the title of Croatian national champion as a U12, U14, U16 and U18 player. Savin was ranked in the top-30 among European tennis players as a U14 and U16 and competed on the Junior Davis Cup team twice. Savin was ranked as highly as No. 1644 in the ATP Singles Rankings.
