ITA Regional Indoor Qualifying
Men's Tennis Begins Play At ITA Southeast Regional Championships

The University of Florida men's tennis team began play Thursday at the 2008 ITA Southeast Regional Championships with several doubles teams in action in Lexington, Ky. Each of the three picked up one victory before dropping its second match of the day.
Dan Cash and Johnny Hamuii teamed to defeat Vanderbilt's Nick Cromydas and Alex DeValerio, 8-4, in the round of 64. Freshmen Joey Burkhardt and Carlos Cueto also opened the day with a win in the round as they took out Stetson's Gokay Celik and Christopher Swanteson, 8-3.
Florida's 22nd-ranked Jeff Dadamo and Tyler Hochwalt got a bye in the first round and defeated Stetson's Cesare Gallo and Nijal Stene, 8-2, before falling short in the round of 16.
Singles play begins tomorrow at the four-day event, which is one of several regionals taking place around the country. The singles and doubles winners of the ITA Southeast Regional as well as the singles finalist receive an automatic berth into the ITA National Indoor in Charlottesville, Va., Nov. 6-9.
