W-Tennis: Alexander and Boonstra advance to doubles final of ITA South Regional

Sophomore Marrit Boonstra (Groningen, The Netherlands) won two singles matches and one doubles match with fellow junior Megan Alexander (Dallas, Texas) to stay alive in both singles and doubles action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southern Region Championships on Sunday.
Boonstra beat No. 2-seed Irina Falconi from Georgia Tech 7-5, 6-2 in her first match of the day to advance to the quarterfinals of the singles draw. She downed Miami's Michaela Kissel 6-0, 7-5 to advance to Monday's semifinal match where she will face Auburn's Melissa Koning. With a win, Boonstra would earn a trip to Charlottesville, Va. for the ITA National Indoor Championships.
Earlier in the day, Koning beat UF's Alexander in a tough three-set match 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 in the round of 16. Florida junior Anastasia Revzina (Moscow, Russia) fell in the round of 16 to top-seeded Chelsey Gullickson of Georgia by the score of 6-2, 6-1.
Playing in her third match of the day, Boonstra teamed with Alexander in the semifinals of the doubles draw to take down Ole Miss' Kristi Boxx and Karen Nijssen 8-6. Boonstra and Alexander will take on Georgia Tech's tandem of Christy Striplin and Noelle Hickey on Monday for a chance to go to the ITA National Indoor Championships November 6-9.
Final results from both singles and doubles action will be posted at the conclusion of play on Monday.
