W. Golf Begins Match Play After Qualifying Day at Hooters Match Play

After a 36-hole qualifying event on Sunday, the University of Florida women's golf team earned a No. 14 seed at the Hooters Match Play in Orlando, Fla. The Lady Gators were among 16 teams competing on Sunday and finished in a tie for 13th with a two-round team score of 605 (302-303). Florida will tee off against 11th-seed Texas A&M on Monday morning.
Sophomore Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.) led the Lady Gators in both rounds of play on Sunday, carding an even-par 144 (73-71). Yadloczky collected five birdies and 26 pars through 36 holes.
Freshman Andrea Watts (Bradenton, Fla.) improved her first round score by three strokes in the afternoon session. She finished the day with a five-over 149 (76-73) and tallied three birdies in six holes during the second round. Fellow freshman Evan Jensen (Belleair, Fla.) made her second eagle of the season after needing only three strokes to make the par-five first hole at the Independence Course. The eagle, along with three birdies, helped Jensen finish the first round with a 73 (+1). She carded a five-over 77 in the second session to finish the day with a 150 (+6).
Redshirt sophomore Lauren Uzelatz (Lakeland, Fla.) shot a 162 (+18, 80-82) on Sunday while redshirt junior Brittany Nelson (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) finished the qualifying event with a 23-over 167 (84-83).
No. 1 UCLA earned the first seed of the tournament after posting a nine-under 567 (281-286) team score.
The Hooters Match Play Championship is the only match play championship on the collegiate schedule. Match play competition begins tomorrow, Nov. 3, with two 18-hole matches.
