UF Lady Gator Great Deb Richard Honored Wednesday

Richard and her foundation, which provides scholarships to disabled freshmen at the the University of Florida, was acknowledged at the first media timeout in front of a crowd of 11,880. She is the only female golfer to win multiple SEC titles and helped the Lady Gators to a 1984 SEC crown. She also won the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship before being selected as the SEC's first Women's Golfer of the Year as a senior in 1985.
Richard went on to help Florida capture its first national title in New Seabury, Mass., collecting runner-up individual honors. Richard enjoyed a prosperous 17-year career on the LPGA Tour, collecting five total wins, her last victory at the 1997 Friendly's Classic. She was inducted into the Florida Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995.
Richard is a current faculty member at Kansas State University in Manhattan and was enshrined in the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame.
