C.J. Kim Driving on the Road to Recovery
Wednesday, February 20, 2008 | Women's Golf
“I haven't played for over a year with the team,” Kim said. “I'm so excited to get the chance to get to play. It will be great to be in the lineup on our home course.”
Kim will round out the rotation on the Florida “B” team in the No. 5 slot.
She was injured in a car accident that fractured her femur, an injury that she continues to rehabilitate. After the accident she couldn't practice on a six-month hiatus and when she made an initial return to the course, she felt pain shoot up her leg. Kim went to see a doctor and had to have surgery.
As a freshman in 2004-05, she posted the team's fourth-best scoring average. The injury has prevented her in playing any competitive tournament for UF since the Auburn Derby in 2006.
Kim's leg is still bothering her and she says that it's still difficult to walk and play three full rounds of golf. She is grateful for the opportunity and knows the course very well, two components that will work to her advantage this weekend.
