No. 19 Florida Men's Tennis Defeats No. 57 USF, 4-3

The No. 19 University of Florida men's tennis team picked up its third win in as many matches at home this season as the Gators defeated No. 57 USF, 4-3, Friday afternoon at the Ring Tennis Center in Gainesville. With the win, UF improved to 3-2 on the year, while USF fell to 1-2.
Florida switched up its doubles pairings on the top two courts and the decision saw the Gators sweep with wins at each spot in the order. Greg Ouellette and Tyler Hochwalt were paired on court one and took 38 minutes to defeat USF's Daniel Daudt and Thomas Estrada, 8-2. Ten minutes later, Nestor Briceno and Alex Lacroix picked up an 8-3 victory over Jamaal Adderley and Mahmoud Hamed. The duo improved to 5-0 in dual matches this year. Jeff Dadamo and Johnny Hamui closed out the doubles portion of the match with an 8-6 showing over Michael Nusslein and Lucas Jovita.
In singles play, Ouellette (No. 8) increased the UF lead to 2-0 with his 6-2, 6-0 win over Hamoud (No. 84) on court one. The win was Ouellette's team-leading eighth over a ranked opponent this year.
After USF cut the lead in half with a win on court two, UF got wins on courts six and four to put the match away. Hamui first defeated Estrada at the bottom of the order, 6-1, 7-5, to move the Gators to within one of the win. For the first time in his early career, Dadamo clinched a match for UF as he took out Diego Toledo in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3. With his victory, Dadamo joined Ouellette and Hochwalt who all have team best dual match records of 4-1.
Florida continues its four-match home stand on Saturday, February 9 as the Gators host No. 14 Florida State. The match begins at 1 p.m. Under Coach Jackson, the Gators have won seven of the eight matches they have played against the Seminoles.
