Gator fans can surf onto www.CoachAmandaButler.com every Tuesday at 10 a.m. to watch a new video related the program, coaches, players and team.
This week's new video features Gator Great Sarah Lowe, who wore the Orange & Blue from 2002-06. Lowe made the most of her time in Gainesville, becoming one of the most popular and the most decorated off-the-court Gator in program history. She was a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship that took her to Costa Rica from February of 2007 and into 2008, was UF's nominee for the 2006 NCAA Woman of the Year, the 2005-06 SEC H. Boyd McWhorter Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award ($10,000 postgraduate scholarship award; third Gator ever - second woman - to receive the award), a 2005 Rhodes Scholar Finalist, was selected by UF's college of Liberal Arts & Sciences to receive the 2006 Outstanding Leadership Award for Undergraduate Female Graduating Seniors (overall one of five women at UF selected) … well, you get the point!!
In May of 2006, Lowe earned two degrees - one in Political Science and the other in Spanish. On the basketball court, her 376 assists rank No. 6 all-time, while her 3337 minutes played ranked No. 7, her 176 steals ranked No. 10, her 76.2% free throw percentage (192-252) ranked No. 7 and her 75 three-pointers ranked tied for No. 9 in a career by a Gator. Lowe will always be remembered for sinking the game-winning free throws with 3.2 seconds remaining in overtime that secured Florida's upset over No. 2 LSU on Feb. 16, 2006.
